Low Tide at the Beach, oil on panel, 12×24 inches

Fort Myers paint the Beach, a busy week behind. 

Found a wonderful spot at the very northern end of the Bowditch Park, but it had to be low tide, otherwise I would not be able to paint.

So I looked up the tides and last Tuesday was the perfect day. I went with all my painting gear to that spot and started my plein air painting. I knew that I had to  be quick, there was only a time table of about two and a half hours. Painting, painting, painting and as a sudden I stood in the ocean. My easel was sinking into the sand and also my other painting stuff. I was standing in the ocean and had to hurry up, in order to save all my gear. Yes, sometimes plein air painting is very challenging.

Nach einer sehr anstrengenden  und ereignisreichen Wochen beim Plein Air Event – “ Paint the Beach in Fort Myers bin ich überglücklich den 1. Platz erhalten zu haben. Mein Ölbild  “ Low Tide at the Beach “ wurde damit ausgezeichnet.

Ich hatte ein  wunderschönes Motiv im Auge, dass ich nur bei Ebbe malen konnte. Letzten Dienstag vormittags musste ich schnell sein. Mit meinen gesamten Maluntensilien wanderte ich an das Nordende der  Fort Myers Beach, Bowditch Park. Ich hatte ein Zeitfenster von 2 1/2 Stunden, da dann ein Großteil dieses Strandes wieder geflutet sein würde. Ich malte und malte und plötzlich stand ich im Wasser. Meine Staffelei begann zu sinken, ebenso meine restliche Malausstattung, und der Sonnenschirm flog davon. Ich rannte mit der Flut um die Wette um  alles in Sicherheit bringen. Ja, manchmal ist die Plein Air Malerei wirklich sehr herausfordernd. Ich bin mit meinem Werk sehr zufrieden und „on Top“ hatte ich noch den ersten Platz erhalten.
